Brooke Horn is one of the actresses auditioning for the "Witch Girls Tales" movie and the first one to do an interview. As a fan of the books we wanted to see if Brooke had what it takes to bring the character of Annabelle to life. We also wanted to know what's its like to be a young actress.
WGFW :How did you start your career in acting?
BROOKE: I started acting professionally when I was four years old.
I would start telling jokes and dancing in public. People would actually stop
to watch me! Mom decided to let me acting classes, so she took me to Lisa
Maile. Lisa Maile is an acting school in Winter Park, Florida. I took 3 courses
altogether. They are an amazing school and I learned a lot from them. They
still put me in their monthly newsletter.
I've been in the spotlight ever since, and it's where I want to stay.
WGFW: What advice would you give someone wishing to be an actor?
BROOKE:I'd tell them to stay with it, as long as it's what they love to
do. You're going to have your ups and downs in this business, so you just
have to keep working hard and believe that it will come through in the end.
WGFW: What has been your greatest acting experience so far?
BROOKE:That's really hard to say, because I've had so many of them!
I had an amazing time down in Key Largo, Florida. I did a job for Maxum Boats,
a day before the evacuations started for hurricane Jeanne. I was filmed as
Lilly, snorkelling and interacting with a pretend family. At the end of the
shoot they pulled me 40mph on a wake-tube! It was soooo fun! Everyone was
calling me a daredevil for riding it that fast in 3-5 foot seas swarming with
big jellyfish!
I also played the lead role of "Gwen" in the feature film, Little
Men. It was filmed in Tampa, Florida. Little Men is about the struggle for
equality between boys and girls, and how your choices in leaders can effect
you in unforseen ways. Today is the first premiere, and we even get to walk
the red carpet at the historic Tampa Theatre! I'm so excited!
WGFW: Who are your favorite actors?
BROOKE: Julia Roberts and Whoopi Goldberg. They can make you cry, and
then 2 minutes later, your laughing again! They are both truly amazing. Johnny
Depp is also one of the many GREAT actors that I admire. His performances
are very diverse. My favorite director is Peter Jackson. He took on an enormous
project and sent it to the stars!
WGFW: What kind of music do you like?
BROOKE:I'm sure that Annabelle would see my favorite music as "Silly
mortal noise"!
But really, I like Pop/Rock. Avril Lavigne, Maroon 5, Kelly Clarkson and Jesse
McCartney are my favorite singers.
I had the honor of meeting country music mega-star Faith Hill while working
on her music video, The Secret of Life. It was soo cool to meet her (she's
really nice)! It was a honor to work with director Steven Goldman, too. I even
had my own bodyguard for a day!
WGFW: What other things do you do for fun?
BROOKE:While Annabelle would probably say turning annoying mortals into
frogs, I like some different things.
I love to Mountain Bike with Dad. We have a really cool nature reserve where
we ride.
I also love reading fantasy books, rollerblading, wake-tubing (LOL), and playing
with my little sister, Jordan. I really enjoy playing with my pets, too.
WGFW: How did you find out about the Witch Girls audition?
BROOKE: My mom found it for me through the internet.
WGFW: What was the audition process like? What did you have to do?
BROOKE: I learned the script, taped it, and sent it in. It was great fun
being Annabelle.
WGFW: Why did you choose to audition for Annabelle?
BROOKE: Because Annabelle is such a diverse and interesting character.
She's wicked on the outside, but deeper down she's very loyal. She has a large
range of emotions, and I enjoy portraying her dramatic side. We go all out
on the auditions. You always put a small piece of yourself into each and every
character you bring to life.
WGFW: What are the people from Manga Graphix like to work with?
BROOKE: Malcolm Harris has been amazing. He's such a multi-talented person.
His writings are just awesome, and his graphics are out of this world! I couldn't
have had a better audition experience! I would consider it a huge honor to
work with Manga Graphix.
WGFW: What do you think about the Witch Girls comic book?
BROOKE: I think it rocks! I've read the first 2 comics and I was absolutely
amazed. It's easy to see that a lot of work and talent went into them. I went
to buy another comic, and they were sold out!
WGFW: Who is your favorite Witch Girl?
BROOKE: Annabelle, of course!!!!!
WGFW: If you were granted the power of a Witch Girl, what are the first
3 things you would do?
BROOKE: Eliminate all competition by transforming them into frogs and
mice!
2) Sign up for Coventry School for Girls!
3) Destroy Hogwarts! Witch Girls are in charge of this world!
WGFW: If Harry Potter and Annabelle had a magic duel, who do you think
would win?
BROOKE: Everyone knows girls rule! Harry Potter is no match for Annabelle,
and I'm not just saying that! While Harry Potter has a wand to worry about,
I can simply snap my fingers and disintegrate him. My magic requires will,
not a silly stick!
WGFW: What do you think is the most unique thing about Witch Girls?
BROOKE: Everything in this wonderful tale is 100% original, and totally
pure magic! Witch Girls takes on a whole new world that I think everyone will
enjoy. Witch Girls is "full of whimsy and a bit of wickedness".
